Ranveer Singh can turn up the energy of any event by like a 100 notches. Be it the IIFA 2016, that was held in Madrid, where Ranveer stole the thunder from everyone. He was all over the red carpet goofing around with celebs including Fawad Khan, Karan Johar, Sonakshi Sinha and the shutterbugs could not stop clicking his pictures. The actor has the gift of of becoming the life of the party. He did it again, by turning his charm game on at a sporting event yesterday. JSW Indian Squash Circuit tournament that concluded at Otter’s Club, Bandra to celebrate the young and upcoming women squash players had Ranveer as the guest of honour. He participated in a friendly match, sweating himself out, but did not let the energy of the event go down. The actor was attending the event on behest of an old school friend of his, Pia Bhattacharya. Pia is married to Ritwik Bhattacharya, five time national squash championship winner.
Joshna Chinappa, moved into the final of the women’s JSW Indian Squash Circuit Otters International 2016, after defeating Welsh rival Tesni Evans in four games in the semifinal, but lost out to Hong Kong’s Annie Au, the current world no 13. Akanksha Salunkhe, India’s No 1 junior squash player, gave Ranveer an opportunity to play a friendly match. Ranveer might have lost out the match with his sporting skills but won over everyone with his charm. He even lifted Akanksha in his arms, and left the fan gushing. The actor ensured that he entertained the audience as he danced for the fans present there. Isn’t that very humble of him, to come and lift the spirits of young sports people, purely out of goodwill?

Prior to his participation as a guest at the event Ranveer had said “In a year when Indian female athletes have done the country proud at both the Olympics as well as the Para Olympics, I believe women squash players have it in them to be at the top. With some of the world’s best players leading the way, I’m sure there is a significant and untapped opportunity to generate interest and engagement of potential women players with this sport through such tournaments.”
The tournament’s winner Annie Au was awarded with $35,000 as prize money.
