Twinkle Khanna, or Mrs Funny Bones, as we LOVE to call her, is a Goddess when it comes to smart comebacks. She has often shut down trolls on internet with her charm, a loads of wit and a dash of sarcasm! She again took the opportunity to school a poor little fellow, who thought it was okay to mess with her. We know Twinkle loves her husbandAkshay Kumar a lot. But has the thought as to why she has not changed her surname to Kumar like a ‘obedient’ Hindu bahu ever lingered over your head? Well you and the ‘gentleman’ who asked her about the same, finally have an answer. Twinkle says she is married and not branded.
Twinkle, who is very popular for her articulate writing skills, was being trolled by some random dude, you know the useless, the eternally vella types on Twitter. He kept bothering her by asking why she has not changed her name Khanna to Kumar. And Twinkle lost her cool, but in a classy way. A little backstory to this- it was not the first time she has been at the answering end of this question. The society we live in! Women are often supposed to take up the last name of their husband, post marriage. It’s 2016, and the practice is still considered of high importance by many. So obviously, Twinkle being one of the women who chose to stick to their last name which was given to them at birth, are often frowned upon. Bring the request, to not change last name post marriage, up during a meeting with a prospective groom, and you are going to have to look for more options. Well, we believe there should be no rule to picking up husband’s last name as yours for women. And summing the very thought Twinkle wrote –
This is not the first time Twinkle has stood up against a sexist remark on Twitter. When Rajdeep Sardesai asked Sania Mirza her plans of settling down, Sania managed to shut him down by asking isn’t he happy with her success and is her success any different from settling down. Twinkle couldn’t keep herself away from this whole issue and took to Twitter to express her outburst. She tagged Rajdeep as one of the nagging ‘bua’ of every family who has nothing on her mind except us settling down. The approach was hilarious and we just fell in love with this Mrs Kumar uff! Mrs Funny Bones coz that’s how we like it!
