Hollywood actor Jason Statham has made a casual cameo appearance at a little café in central Auckland - in a manner less explosive than his usual on-screen performances.
Statham well-known for appearing in a number of action-flicks, including Transformers, Fast 8, Furious 7 and Snatch, paid a morning visit to Cup and Bun café in Grey Lynn.
Café owner Andy JV said the actor just casually strolled into his store with a bag of veggies in hand.
"He was pretty relaxed, he had a macchiato and he scooted off," he said. "I'm pretty sure he'll be back, because he said he wasn't staying very far."
JV said Statham appeared to like the coffee.
"Coffee is a bit of a ritual you know? People weren't harassing him...it was all very casual and he was on his own, no minders or anything like that."
Statham is currently in the country filming Meg, a sci-fi film based on Steve Alten's 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, with Ruby Rose, the star of Orange is the New Black.
JV said the actor did spend a few minutes chit-chatting and obliged in posing for a quick snap.
"He was here to shoot and movie and he was just singing praises about the local film industry and the people that worked in it.
"He was only here for ten minutes, having a yarn, all very casual. I don't think he had the time to sit around."
Anna Reeve also had a run in with the famous actor yesterday and admitted that she didn't realise it at the time who he was, until she heard some girls making a fuss behind her. Reeve managed to get this fabulous selfie especially for her husband Jay who is a huge fan.
